Life Insurance Awareness Month Wrap-Up: It's Not Just for You

That's a wrap on Life Insurance Awareness Month! Over the last four weeks we covered a lot of ground:

  • Mortgage Payoff Protection — term life sized to your mortgage, in 10, 20, or 30-year terms.

  • Whole Life with Limited Pay — permanent coverage you can pay off in 10 or 20 years, or on a schedule to age 65 or 100.

  • Return of Premium — term coverage where you get every premium dollar back if you outlive the term.

  • Indexed Universal Life — permanent coverage with the potential to build cash value tied to a market index.

If you've been following along, thank you — and if you've been meaning to get your own numbers, today, September 30, is the last day of our Life Insurance Awareness Month promotion: complete a consultation and application and we'll send you a $20 gift certificate, delivered by text or email with your choice of merchant. No purchase necessary.

Here's the thing worth sitting with as the month closes, though: life insurance isn't only something you buy for yourself. A lot of our clients are at a stage where they're not thinking much about their own coverage anymore — but they have adult kids who just bought their first home, started a family, or are otherwise stepping into the exact life stage where a policy like Mortgage Payoff Protection or a simple term policy actually matters. Many of them have never had anyone sit down and explain any of this to them.

If that sounds like someone in your life, a referral is one of the most useful things you can do for them — and for us. It costs nothing to make the introduction, and it might be the first real conversation they've ever had about protecting their own family.

It's also worth remembering that life insurance rarely stands alone. For a lot of families, it's one piece of a bigger picture that includes retirement accounts, a will, and an overall estate plan — something to bring up with your financial planner or attorney if you haven't already. And if grandkids are part of that picture, we covered how a juvenile policy can fit in back in our Juvenile Life Insurance Head Start post, if you'd like a refresher.

Thanks for reading along this September. If you or someone you know hasn't gotten their consultation and application in yet, today's the day.
